George Hurrell had various private studios through out his career and in between contracts with M.G.M., Paramount, Twentieth Century-Fox, Warner Bros., RKO and Columbia.

1927 – 1929: Hurrell’s first studio in the Granada Building at 672 Lafayette Park Place in Los Angeles, CA where he first photographed Pancho Barnes, Ramon Novarro and his first female movie star, Norma Shearer.

1934 – 1938: Hurrell’s private studio at 8706 Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles, CA. He dressed up the front window with a glass-enclosed picture frame, which contained a portrait of his latest subject. The frame was 9 ½ feet long and 6 feet wide that allowed for a 5 X 7 foot photograph mounted inside.
