In 1925, after studying painting at the Art Institute of Chicago, George moved to Laguna Beach, CA. He wanted to continue painting, and his friend landscape artist Edgar Payne convinced him Laguna Beach was just the place to do it. In addition to his own painting, George would photograph other painters and their paintings for art-magazine reproduction and take portraits of the local citizens. He sold very few paintings -- but his photography business flourished! This was the beginning of a photographic career that lasted over six decades and continues to captivate audiences and collectors around the world. He continued painting throughout his lifetime as a hobby. The artwork below is a small representation of his style of painting.
